"Buick sets new benchmark in Luxury Sedans"

I own the redesigned 2017 Buick LaCrosse, Premium/AWD. Previously I drove the 2010 LaCrosse, purchased new and redesigned that year. My satisfaction with the previous generation was outstanding, delivering exceptional service and reaching nearly 80K miles at trade-in. The NEW generation LaCrosse for 2017 undoubtedly sets a higher benchmark for Domestic Luxury Sedans! In addition to its superior comfort and quietness while in motion, this model simply excels in technology and efficiency. Loaded with every safety feature imaginable, this Buick also includes the most advanced 3.6l VVT 310hp V-6 engine, that includes Auto Cylinder-Deactivation and Auto Start-Stop technology. These features collectively assure impressive gas mileage without compromising on rapid acceleration. The latest available, 8-speed auto transmission, is operated by a very intuitive, shift-by-wire control knob. Gear transitions are flawless at speed. Being completely fair & honest with such low mileage currently, I choose not to rate my experience in reliability. However, if this model meets or exceeds my experience with the 2010 Buick LaCrosse, I will surely give it a 10/10 as well. I have no doubts on the future of this car. Every Professional review that Ive researched, suggests that this Buick will indeed give most comparable Foreign Luxury Sedans a serious run for their money!

Critical Review

"Notabley poorer than my 2011 lacrosse"

Surprisingly worse than my 2011 Lacrosse. Noisy engine, spongy handling, visability improved which was major flaw in past. Wouldn't consider it after a test drive. Made me appreciate my old LaCrosse.

Sporty Luxury
Pros

Only gas and tires for 5+ years of ownership

Cons

Only small inconveniences like engine stop upon braking, non locking gas access, submitted report is much more detailed

I’ve owned this vehicle for just over five years having bought it used with 41K miles at purchase. It is definitely stylish, comfortable and fully accommodating for 5 passengers. The passenger compartment is very comfortable and well appointed. One disappointment is the holes used for air conditioning the occupants also creates a weak point lending to leather material separation along those dots for frequently used seats like the driver side. The worst complaint I can make about the car is that the engineering team that decided to incorporate the engine stop feature when you stop at a traffic light supposedly to save fuel (but put extra strain on your starter) should be reprimanded. For those unfamiliar with this frustrating feature the car auto starts again when you take your foot off of the brake. Fortunately I was able to find online a company which made a cable to incorporate into the wiring under the hood near the electric cooling fans that disabled that feature for less than $15. Mechanically there have been zero problems with the car. The only expense over these five years have been tires and gas. The dealer provides lifetime-to-purchaser free oil changes (two per year). Another design that will disappoint is the GM decision to not provide a transmission dip stick. To check the fluid requires jacking it up and removing a stubby plug to check it which I think they did to discourage DIY enthusiasts hoping you will bring it back to the dealer where they demand premium pricing for everything. It’s rather busy under the hood for the 3.6L motor so not much room to get to things but so far the build quality has not provided an instance where I’ve had to find out just how difficult maintenance will be. The motor is do quiet and smooth you have to look at the ROM gauge to realize it’s running. A couple of times we’ve actually walked away from the car with the engine on having forgotten to press the off button. Speaking of the motor it runs just fine on regular gas. And speaking of gas access to fill your tank is done by simply pressing lightly on the gas access door which releases it and that allows you to immediately put in the gas nozzle to begin fueling. It’s convenient but in this $4-5/gallon environment we live in it makes your gas convenient for others. The 50 profile tires are unforgiving when encountering potholes of moderate size resulting in pinches between the road and the rim. I’ve replaced three tires and two rims for that reason. Though currently having 101000 careful miles there haven’t been any transmission issues but that 8 speed is complex and my experience has been it’s not as smooth as I expected even when originally acquired. Tranny failures are inevitable though on all vehicles. The trunk of this car is incredibly huge! If drive-ins were still a thing it’s so big you could easily fit several bodies in it. The back seats fold down so there is so much room there might be 8 feet to the back of the front seats. It’s incredible! Remember earlier I said the engine bay was busy? It’s so much so that GM placed the car battery in the trunk! What’s disappointing is that in order to access the positive terminal (the negative one is easily accessible) you have to remove the floor panel and adjacent plastic on the driver side rear next to the spare tire to access it. I’ve been lucky since I’ve not yet had a battery failure but it’s been 5 years ownership so any day now. I’ve bragged about this car initially and I recognize I’ve said some things that sound like I’m trashing it. No car is perfect. But despite some unflattering mentions this may be the best vehicle I’ve ever owned and I’ve had many in my lifetime. Did I mention gas milage? This thing really does get about 21 mpg in the city and easily 30 on the highway. I’ve never yet had to add any R-1234yf Freon to the a/c unit nor have I had any problems with blend doors as I’ve had with a Highlander I once owned. Infotainment center is super nice. Everything you could want from NAV to Apple play is available. Sirius and On Star available if you want the subscription. There are loads of creature comforts. Bottom line there are a lot of luxuries and ordinary stuff that could go wrong but haven’t for which I am grateful. Buick has historically enjoyed a very favorable reputation and in my opinion it is well deserved.

2019 Lacrosse Good and Well Done
Pros

Quiet, comfortable, reliable, modern enough still after last model is 6 years old

Cons

Annoying start/stop, front squeaks in cold weather

Overall it is a solid vehicle. Comfortable and luxurious enough inside and great looking outside. The engine is very quiet and the 9-speed transmission from Toyota is seamless. You won't be able to tell when gears are switched. Gas mileage is okay. On the highway I believe will go well over 30, mixed is something like 25.26 24 mi a gallon something like that. Now couple things really annoying like the auto start stop system which cannot be switched off and will cut off off the engine on every stoplight or turn where the vehicle comes to a stop; the front is squeaking in very cold temperatures over uneven surfaces. Beside this I have no other remarks. Handling is okay, in no means this is a sporty vehicle and handles more like a limousine what it actually is. Powerful enough to get you out of trouble, roomy and comfortable. That's it! Zero troubles so far.

Super Great Car

Buick's Best Car Ever

I am a proud owner of this car. I gave it a five. People comment how nice it looks. I just got 30.3 mpg over all mileage on a 9,350 mile trip last fall. The V6 is powerful and gets better mpg than those 4 cylinder tubo charged engines that are under powered. I love the styling 5 MPG 5 Engine 5 comfort 5 Buick makes this only for Chinese residents now.
