The 2021 Volvo XC90 offers a smorgasbord of luxury, safety, and fuel efficiency that is tough to beat in the highly competitive 3-row luxury SUV segment. It not only offers plenty of these characteristics, but it also does so in a vehicle that offers the lowest 5-Year Cost to Own, edging out erstwhile rivals in the process. For 2021, it further enhances the safety of the XC90 by making LED adaptive headlights that turn with the steering to more effectively illuminate curves. That lighting system helps the XC90 earn top safety ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
The 2021 Volvo XC90 starts at $49,000 for the base T5 Momentum. The T5 and the more powerful T6 offer both Momentum and R-Design trims, while the latter also boasts a fully-loaded Inscription version. The plug-in hybrid T8 comes in Recharge Inscription Expression, R-Design, and flagship Inscription trims, topping out at $70,845.That price range falls below many of its key rivals, giving the 2021 Volvo XC90 an edge right out of the blocks in delivering its segment-best 5-Year Cost to Own figures.
