Gary Hardesty
Gary Hardesty is the Manager Technician of the Wholesale Mechanic Shop at Manheim San Francisco Bay Auto Auction, located in Hayward, CA. With over 25 years of experience as a Master Technician, holding ASE certifications A1-A9 in addition to the Advanced Level Specialist L1 certification, Gary oversees the day-to-day operations of the mechanic shop and performs detailed diagnostic procedures on a wide range of automotive vehicles.
He has extensive knowledge of many diagnostic tools from the largest vendors in the automotive field and collaborates with various entities on pilot programs that enhance the overall vehicle reconditioning services Manheim provides. Gary is also heavily invested in safety: he chairs the onsite site safety committee. He also partners with the Advanced Recon User team and has extensive Bureau of Automotive Repair experience as both a Smog test/repair Technician and a vehicle VIN verification agent.
Gary holds a bachelor’s degree in project management from the University of Arizona and received honors in automotive servicing and repair from ATCOA North Technical Training. Before joining Manheim, Gary worked in privately owned smaller vehicle repair shops for five years and spent seven years with a Honda dealership as a master technician.
He also saw an opportunity to work with new technologies and led a special project to convert a 1971 VW Beetle to be an all-electric vehicle.
