Critical Review
This was my first car ever. I enjoyed the luxury side of it but as soon as any repair is needed Audi gets you there. I bought the car with over 100k on it and I still have it at 177k. The repairs have cost me more than the car did. My motor blew out last week on the highway due to cam failure. At this point I am looking at something like a honda were the repairs dont cost more than the car.

Great classy car.
Cup holders weren't great but so what!
Bought this in Dec.1999 with 49,000 miles. Have not had to put much money into this car just regular maintenance and what would be expected to be replaced on a car over time. Have a local mechanic who charges far less than a dealer so that helps because of high prices for parts. The paint (clear coat?) got ugly and had hood and trunk repainted twice. Loved the car that much! Would still be driving it, the body was still solid and engine/transmission still good as of Oct 2016 when car was rear ended full speed. Car totaled (more because of age). Nothing in front of trunk area affected. Doors not jammed, windows not affected. Planned on driving at least another 50,000. What a bummer! I loved the body style, it was ageless.
safe, great road feel and response
cost of repairs
This car is so heavy it reoutinely coasts through much if my daily commute at the speed limit. Routinely get >25 MPG and slightly less in winter. On road trips it can go up to 28-30 MPG easily. I've owned for >10 years and spent nearly $20 K in repairs and maintenence. Pearl white.

Solid, smooth riding and allwheel drive
Good mechanics are difficult to find at any cost
Never had a problem until it overheated and lost an engine. The Audi mechanic did not fix properly. Finding a good Audi mechanic has been a constant problem. Car is beautiful, classic, and solid, but the value did not hold well enough to fix it.
Low Mileage, Excellent Quality, Interior Features
Acceleration, Insurance
Palm Springs, California is known for its car collections and the people who love them. It was there I was fortunate to stumble upon my Audi at 39,000 miles, about a year ago. The price was right, about $8k - and it's in pristine condition sans a few scratches on exterior. Due to age of this car I had some initial problems as it had not been run like the daily driver it is today. Fortunately, I found an indie mechanic who kept price of replacing timing kit, fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, and water pump far below Dealer/repair shop estimates. Since completion of two repair visits the A6 has been a dream to drive. While not the fastest car on the road, it certainly feels like the most solid and safe. I also love the lines of it even though it's a wagon. Just recently I found the automatic mirror adjustment feature. This must have been quite a new innovation in 1996. I'm delighted to have found this function from a friend who pressed one of the buttons on dash next to rear mirror icons. While I see many new Audi wagons on the road, most are the A4s. As an A6 Quattro owner, I feel lucky to have discovered this super low mileage vintage.
tight steering/handling, gas mileage, looks
they stopped making this model in 97
Best stock sound system, ice cold air, hauled bricks/kayaks,granite, family of 7, 87 octane, change oil every 12k, tires, orig brakes, replaced battery and timing chain once
I have put over 140k on this car since buying it used in 2006. A true workhorse, reliable, with minimal $'s spent, save for oil changes. A bit underpowered, but who cares? Audi's best in my option.
tons of space, great in snow, comfortable ride
gas mileage, age of car
I know newer Audis have had mixed reviews with electrical problems, but this car has been a great member of our family. Even at 200K + miles it is still going strong. It handles great in the snow, it can seat up to seven, it has enough space to load a twin sized mattress in the back (let alone bicycles, ski gear, everything that could fit into a college dorm). It is a HEAVY, safe car that's been hauling around bits and pieces of our lives for over 16 years. My husband is a window cleaner and he mounted a ladder rack on it! I couldn't afford another Audi, and at one point eight or ten years ago I considered trading it in for a brand new Subaru Outback (similar on the outside, at least), but the handling just didn't compare. If you're looking for a great AWD station wagon to use as a winter car or as a safe first car for your kid, think about this model.
