Positive Review
Owned one since 1998, had a Toyota Cressida before it. Bought it based on a Consumer Reports rating at the time, which has proved to be valid. This Audi has been an excellent car. Typical German road feel, with consistent high quality performance and average or lower maintenance costs. With Yokohama Avid H4S tires, traction is the best one could wish for in all weather conditions, much better than OEM tires. This make and model was and is a winner. I just wish it had come with a 5-disc CD changer.
Critical Review
Bought for it's looks and comfort, forgetting about how problematic Eurocars are. $200 for thermostat!! American cars don't quit cranking when the cam sensor goes bad but the Audi does - another $200. Parts are too high and finding a good mechanic to work on them is hard. Automatic is slow out of the hole - 5-speed would be better. A cool car if you can afford the upkeep.

Still classy appearance
Could use a good tune up
For ots age the car exterior and paint are almost like new. No dents or dings. Interior has one rip in black leather on driver seat. I temp covered it with black duct tape. All else is very good condition, except for the radio is missing.
Drive train is sound
Needs heater core, the next owner can tackle that
Bought the audi over 2 yrs ago, was hesitant to purchase. Was surprized when the owner took my first offer. This car was a one owner dealer maintained so it was mostly original. I didnt listen to the Audi critics and formed my own opinion. This car has not disapointed me. the workmanship is second to non. The transmission had no fluid in it for 2 years prior to me owning it. After dropping the trany pan to i.d. it. I put dextron in it and it came bacvk to life. the only other issue was a trany cooler leak into the radiator.
MPG, I get about 20 miles per Gallon average.
Bouht it at 150k and on my way to 200k and no major repairs to speak of. It has some get-up and go but not super fast. very comfortable seats and great Bose sound system. All around I love this car.
Comfy, Sunroof, runs good
Poor gas mileage, expensive to fix
Honestly I love this car had it for about 2 years only paid 1,200 for it. Already worth my money. It was comfortable, never rusted, everything was working fine. Then came a water pump and a belt $600, not bad for that kind of work. Then along came overheating issues. The car would not stop overheating, replacing hoses, resivours all kinds of stuff and it cost about another $600, for the replacement. Now this is all the end of it lifetime I had the car for about 1 year then it started to act up. Then one day I start the car everything seems fine and normal and I drive out of my lot and its not shifting to any gear excepet 1st. Mechanic said well it could be a sensor or it could be the entire Tranny. The sensor was going to be about $200 and under the mechanic discrestion he told me its most likely the tranny. So I said goodbye most of the time the car was great but in the end it was very expensive to fix.
i have had the car for a couple of years, it runs perfect. the car drives like a dream. the ride quality is amazing, and long trips can be really fun. its a great starter car or any type of car for the most part. parts can be expensive, but i have only had to buy one part for it ever.

I am 19 now, had the car for 2 years put over 100000 miles on it, and only major thing replaced was timing chain, and fuel pump. everything still works fine, runs great for a 1994 with 240k miles, made over ten long road trips over 600 miles each with NO PROBLEMS. I highly recomend this car.
This is my second Audi that I bought for $1000 with 210,535 miles on it and I piled up its odometer to 216,440 miles within 3 months without any problems whatsoever. This car is an engineering (of course German) master piece and five speed manual transmission along with Quattro system is fantastic in hilly Idaho roads (specially reaching ski resorts). I religiously fill its fuel tank with Shell 93 Octane and use fully synthetic Mobil110W40 high mileage motor oil. Bose audio system is awesome and the only thing bad is air conditioner blower fan which is quite common in old Audis. So far so good for a self paying student.
