Offering a ready-made solution to anyone facing the challenge of transporting an elderly or physically incapacitated passenger, Toyota has added a new Auto Access Seat option to its completely redesigned 2011 Sienna Minivan. This fully-integrated one-touch second-row seat is the first passenger assist of its kind to be available as a factory-installed feature.
Available in Sienna LE and XLE trim grades, the Auto Access Seat has a total lift capacity of 330 pounds. Designed to rotate 90 degrees, it can be lowered to within 19 inches of the ground. In addition to providing four inches of fore/aft slide travel, this seat also has an auto-recline feature that ensures sufficient head clearance is maintained throughout the entire cycling process and incorporates both a park-shift interlock circuit as well as an audible warning system that warns if the seat is not properly locked in position or the sliding door is not fully closed. The Auto Access Seat will be available when the new Sienna goes on sale in February.
