The Ford Bronco is giving legendary off-road vehicles everything they can handle.
It’s one of just three vehicles on the market available with both an independent front suspension and a locking front differential (the other two are the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 and Mercedes-Benz G-Class).
There are two body styles and several options available, but a few of the choices give you approach, breakover, and departure angles that are all best-in-class or close to it.
About the only off-road gear left for aftermarket installers to add would be…maybe a snorkel? A winch?
Nope. Ford has added those, too.
For Very Wet Off-Roading
The automaker has confirmed months of rumors by releasing photos of an upcoming Everglades trim level in testing. The shots appeared on Bronco Nation, which looks like an enthusiast site but is run by Ford itself.
The price is unknown. Ford says the Bronco Everglades will be available next summer.
The photos show the Bronco Everglades testing, wrapped in vinyl camouflage. Among the details we can spot from the photoshoot, the Everglades rides on enormous 35-inch Goodyear Territory MT tires. They are mounted on trim-specific alloy wheels – not the old-school steel wheels that caused such a buzz when the Bronco was first unveiled.
A Warn winch snakes through a factory-issue Ford accessory bumper. And that telltale snorkel climbs the passenger’s side of the windscreen. Roof rails are built into the molded-in-color plastic hardtop.
In the back is a slide-out tailgate Ford says it will make available on other trim levels later in the model year.
