The 2022 Honda Civic sedan is available today. The Civic has been one of the three best-selling passenger cars in the U.S. since 1973 and has been entirely redesigned for the 2022 model year. The new Civic offers smooth power, tighter handling than any of its predecessors, and a simple cabin that feels upscale for its price.
Starting at $21,700 (plus a $995 destination charge), the Civic is available in standard LX, more engaging Sport, well-equipped LX, and top-of-the-line Touring trim.
Only the sedan version goes on sale today, but Honda recently previewed a hatchback edition that will arrive later. A sportier Civic Si and high-performance Type R are also planned later in the year.
The new Civic wears simpler, more elegant lines than the 2021 edition did, inside and out. It’s slightly larger than the Civic it replaces, with most of the added size going to improve rear-seat space.
Our test drivers found power from the turbocharged 1.5-liter, 180-horsepower engine in the EX and Touring models smooth and responsive. A lower stance and firmer chassis make it more fun in the corners than your average compact sedan.
The cabin is simple and refined for the price, with a low cowl for excellent visibility. A standard 7-inch color touch screen handles information and entertainment functions. An available 12-speaker Bose sound system improves the experience.
