The top-spec 2017 Volvo XC90 Excellence will be arriving in U.S. showrooms this summer. Originally presented last year in Shanghai, the XC90 Excellence is the most opulently appointed model to wear the Volvo logo. Based on a fully loaded version of the range-topping XC90 T8 Twin-Engine Plug-in Hybrid, the XC90 Excellence “offers a sublime and luxurious experience” that Björn Annwall, Senior Vice President Marketing, Sales and Service at Volvo Cars indicates has generated considerable interest among affluent customers. A quick look at what it features makes it easy to see why.

Unlike the standard XC90, the Excellence eliminates the third-row split bench in favor of a 4-passenger configuration. The second-row bench is supplanted by two individually adjustable seats that offer heating/cooling/massage functions, have loads more legroom and allow easy access to a console that has a mini refrigerator, folding tables and heated/cooled cup holders. Beyond premium leather upholstery, additional cabin isolation elements and an enhanced Bowers & Wilkins Premium Sound System, the XC90 Excellence also boasts hand-crafted crystal glasses in dedicated crystal holders from Sweden’s leading glassmaker, Orrefors.

Like other 2017 Volvos, the new XC90 Excellence has an improved version of the Volvo On Call smartphone app that features upgraded calendar integration along with support for Windows 10 on laptops and tablets. Like the new S90 Sedan and V90 Wagon, the Sensus in-car infotainment system in this elegant SUV also will add new integrated apps including Spotify, Connected Service Booking and Park and Pay. Pricing for the 2017 Volvo XC90 Excellence will start at $105,895, including destination.
