Following an initial year that saw it account for less than 10 percent of total line volume, the turbocharged Cadillac SRX 2.8T will be mustered out of the lineup effective with the 2011 model. Although the standard version of this mid-size luxury crossover continues to sell quite well — and now commands an larger share of its segment than prime rivals like the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class — the more potent T-charged SRX just never clicked with buyers who were either unwilling or unable to deal with its higher price and lower fuel-economy numbers.
In base form, the 2011 Cadillac SRX is fitted with a 3.0-liter/265-horsepower naturally aspirated V6 that returns 18/25 mpg city/highway EPA figures in front-drive form and 17/23 mpg stats on all-wheel-drive models. Pricing currently starts at $34,705 for the former and $41,630 for the latter. The SRX 2.8T, which can only be had in an AWD configuration, is powered by a turbocharged 2.8-liter V6 that makes a stouter 300 horses but earns just 15/22 mpg EPA ratings and starts at $50,790. A Cadillac source indicated that dealers will have sufficient 2011 SRX 2.8T inventory on hand to meet anticipated consumer demand for the remainder of the model year, but that no additional vehicles will be produced.
