Positive Review
This is a wonderful car. I had it for 3 years, and it was excellent for me. I had no good mechanic, but I was able to conduct much of the maintenance myself. It performs like a car 20 times the price! Don't think this is competition for a E-300 or a 525i of the same year, because it is in another league performance and styling wise entirely!
Critical Review
Great fun to drive, just the right amount of power. Extremely responsive and road holding. They really made an effort to avoid the legendary Italian rust curse. Not one bit anywhere, and it spent its entire life in the salt zone. Keep an eye on the timing belt maintenance and you will have a very long lived car.

Insanley fun to drive, Very fast, Nice looking
No cup holders
It has never had any serious problems which is rare for these cars. Looks really good to the point where you just want to look at it all day. It drives like new and the engine is in insane shape for how old it is. The car also has a really good sport mode which actually changes the car so much to the point where it's almost a race car. This car has some faults as well here are a few: VERY FIRM RIDE certain pieces don't meet correctly, the interior plastic used on-top of the dash doesn't meet up correctly to the point where its bent out of shape. the doors are the heaviest I've come across to the point where if i open the door on a hill the door comes back and hits both of my legs.
For a sedan it is very sporty and fast
A lot of electrical, alarm is tricky
Even tho this car is old, it is amongst the nicest I have owned. I would not sell it for what they say it is worth. It handles very well, gets good mileage, very reliable, never breaks down. It has power everything, which I thought would be a problem...so far so good. I will keep this car until it gets a decent burial!
awsome looking car
man parts will kill you if you cant afford a fery

I purchased this new in 1994. I have loved it every minute since then. The design, though NEW SCHOOL, back then still works, Pinanfarina brought us into the future on this one, It had many carry-over elements of the Testarossa which had just been designed. My only complaint is the plastic looking underskirts. The interior is a lesson in Italian craftsmanship. The engine is as beautiful as it is capable. The handling is s responsive and the ride is supple over bad pavement yet the car goes where you point it. The front wheel drive does cause a bit of understeer when accelerating on the back half of a curve.
Purchased the 1993 164L new. Still runs great and we have a terrific mechanic although he gets very little business from us. Reliability has been amazing - we were accustomed to Audi's and their continuous problems. Not an issue with Alfa, still get lots of questions and looks from others. Look forward to the return of Alfa to US
Sold this car once and bought a 97 BMW 528. Loved the 528 but the 1995 164Q kept haunting me. It came up for sale about 2years ago and I bought it back. I've owned over 60 cars in my life but this one just put's a big smile on my face (except when something goes wrong, but it doesn't often enough to ruin it) everytime I fire it up with the Magnaflow I put on it. 150K miles and doesn't burn any oil and if fast as stink. If you can get one, do it.
