The 2012 Dodge Journey SUV receives a revised trim line with five models: SE-AVP, SE, SXT, Crew and R/T. The new American Value Package (AVP) brings an entry-level price that makes the 2012 Dodge Journey SUV the most affordable 7-passenger midsize SUV in America. Later in the model year, the Crew and R/T will offer a rear-seat DVD entertainment package.
Based on the same D-segment platform as the Avenger, the 2009 Dodge Journey is a new crossover utility vehicle that fits in between the compact Caliber and family-hauling Grand Caravan. The Journey provides the utility of an SUV, the passenger capacity of a minivan, the driving characteristics of a car and has a multitude of storage bins and spaces. Making its debut into the crossover marketplace, the Journey compares favorably with the Chevy Equinox, Ford Escape, Hyundai Santa Fe and Toyota RAV4, and it's especially ideal for those with families, or those looking to start new families, as it offers different trim levels with a choice of seating configurations and amenities that should suit a variety of needs and budgets.

"I picked up my 2009 Journey SXT 4 days ago and have driven it about 300 miles. So, I have no opinion on reliability (although I've owned 3 Chrysler vehicles and never had any major issues with any of them, including my 2005 Grand Caravan I traded in on this car). Love the look of it - very sporty compared to other crossovers. Lots of great storage features that I can't wait to use. The kids love it (they're 4 and 5 yrs old) and can easily get in and out. Some car reviews have said the interior plastics look cheap. I disagree. I think the silver color of the accents can through people off since it's such a contrasting look. A monochromatic look like the Mazda5 has is much more soothing to the eye. But, I don't think it looks cheap, just flashy. At first the shifter did seem to be in an awkward position, but after 5 minutes of driving, it seems well placed to me. The only complaint on the vehicle is the pillars you step over to get into the car are quite wide. That's a little bit awkward, but I've gotten used to it already. Other than that, I am VERY impressed with this car. And, with the rebated Chrysler is offering, you can't beat the deal. MSRP was $25,025 and I paid $19,553 out of the door."

"This is the best crossover I've ever driven. We use to have a Caliber and loved it as well, but as our family grew we needed something larger and the Dodge Journey is perfect. Great handling (specially in the snowy hills of Eastern Iowa). Good gas mileage (averaged 26 mpg on two separate 2000+ mile trips). Would recommend the SXT or R/T over the SE as the larger engine comes in handy in hilly conditions."

"I bought my Journey in May 2008 and have had it in the shop several times since then. I had a horrible groaning noise when I turned the wheel in which the service man told me that, that is normal with new vehicles, WHAT!!! Then 5 months later I get a call that there has been a recall for something to do with the power steering. I have already had to have my brakes done and got another excuse and now I have to take it in for a recall involving the braking system, HMMM!! Now I am having other issues also and my vehicle is only 6 months old."
