2016 Dodge Challenger

The Challenger was revised last year and changes are minimal for 2016. There are some additional trim choices, new 20-inch 5-spoke Gloss Black wheels with the Blacktop Appearance Package and the return of a heritage color: Plum Crazy, to go with B5 Blue and TorRed. Check the color charts.

The 2015 Dodge Challenger gets a new grille, nose, and headlights, a newly restyled tail that includes very cool taillights, and finally, an all-new interior that brings this muscle car into the modern age. Oh, there's also that whole 707-horsepower V8 we mentioned earlier.

Available in a variety of trims including the newer Rallye Redline, the Challenger coupe carries over mostly unchanged for 2013. New exterior colors are available, and improvements have been made to the optional Garmin navigation system. SRT8 392 models have selectable suspension settings and standard launch control for maximizing acceleration.

Along with new trim designations, the 2012 Dodge Challenger gains some new optional features including a 900-watt, 18-speaker Harman/Kardon audio system, and zinc steering-wheel paddle shifters on SXT Plus and R/T. The SRT8 392 trim gains a new 2-mode adjustable suspension-damping system and an available heated steering wheel.

For 2011 the Challenger gets a new base V6 of 3.6 liters and 305 horsepower (55 more than the previous 3.5-liter V6) and 268 pound-feet of torque; it is truly a huge improvement and gives even the base SE model a genuine performance feel. New chassis architecture delivers higher cornering levels and there is additional standard equipment. But the big Challenger news for 2011 is the debut of the SRT8 392, powered by a 6.4-liter version of the Hemi engine and making 470 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. There will be only 1,142 of the Inaugural Edition models (1,100 for the United States and 392 for Canada), and they will be either deep blue with white stripes or white with blue stripes. The "392" moniker refers to 392 cubic inches, in memory of the 392-inch Hemi of 1957 and '58, but the modern version actually measures only 391 cubic inches; somebody needs a new calculator.

The 2010 Challenger R/T will offer a new Super Track Pack that includes 20-inch Goodyear Eagle F1 tires, Nivomat self-leveling shock absorbers, a larger rear stabilizer bar, 3.06 rear axle ratio and "ESC-off" stability control off switch. The SRT8 gets a limited production Furious Fuchsia Edition featuring fuchsia paint, white leather seats and unique rims.

About Dodge Challenger

The 2016 Dodge Challenger blends classic muscle-car flavor with computer-age technology and performance. The take-no-prisoners styling is clearly linked to a glorious past of American big-engine performance, yet inside and under the hood are technological benefits and performance levels that were only wild dreams in the best days of the muscle-car era. There are four outstanding engines: a 3.6-liter, 305-horsepower V6 and three Hemi V8s; a 5.7-liter with 372 horsepower, a 6.4-liter of 485 horsepower and a 6.2-liter supercharged version in the SRT Hellcat that makes a staggering 707 horsepower. No Ford Mustang or Chevrolet Camaro has ever matched that lofty peak, and this much is undisputed: There has never been a muscle car like this.

Pros: "looks and realiability."

Cons: "Body gaps and Fit. Issues"

"Car is very smooth the 8 speed auto is great. I've played around with the 0-60 performance gauge and for a heavy car with a V6 my best time was 6.1 seconds. Not bad for a daily cruiser weighing in at 4000 lbs. This car is very comfortable on long drives. I bought this car new, for daily use and it does preform well. The tech. package is great also. The only real issue is, Body fit and gaps. I owned a 70 Cuda and it reminds me of the seventies when fit and finish of American cars stunk. Kudos to Dodge BUT tighten up alignment of doors, hoods trunks and fenders."

"I've owned 2 doz. cars; many muscle/sports cars. This is hands down the best car I've ever owned. It is a real head turner! Very comfortable and a daily driver. The perfect muscle car for a baby boomer. No problems until 50k miles; and those problems were covered under warranty. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. A great car!"
