"I have well over 300,000 miles (312+)
and I have only had one complaint about my Car , its too small for my Tall Friends !
The Bearings in the front end seem to hate Speed bumps , and I changed them 2 times ( not bad for 300k+ miles
I would seriously consider replacing the Engine if it does blow , I luv my car too much to bury it or trade ,"
"I bought my 1996 Tercel with 9,500 miles on it in 1998 at the age of 16. I am now 26 (and 1/2) and still driving it in 2008 with 155,000 miles on it. I paid $9,500 for it and have put in probably no more than $1-2K total, which is pretty amazing. I've maintained this car to the bare minimum and it hasn't treated me bad, ever! As someone else commented on, the only bad thing about the Tercel is its shocks (or lack thereof) but you can always replace something like that if it bothers you enough. All my friends are on their 3rd or 4th car since they were 16, I'm still with my original and they're the jealous ones with gas prices as high as they are now :)"
"I bought this 95 Tercell 4 years ago and it had 140,000 miles on it. I just drive it around town. I now have 180,000 miles on it, I change the oil once a year, put a battery in it, and it just keeps running and running and running. IM AMAZED!!"
"Bought it one year old in 1998 with 15K miles. Other than the body damage I inflicted on it, it has never been serviced other than regular oil changes, brake replacement at 50K miles, timing belt and water pump replacement at 75K miles. It's survived New England winters and pot holes. I wish they still made this car. With the A/C on I consistently get 26/38 with this car."
