Rolls-Royce Ghost

Rolls-Royce Ghost

About Rolls-Royce Ghost

The 2017 Rolls-Royce Ghost is the "entry-level" vehicle from the fabled British brand, but if relativity ever applied to such words, this is it. By "entry level," we mean this ultra-luxury sedan starts around $310,000 -- some $100,000 less than the outgoing Phantom flagship. Of course in this realm of cars -- and for the plutocrats who buy them -- such figures are trifling. We could point to the Ghost's opulent interior, serene ride and V12 engine as rationale, but in reality you could have similar traits for far less in a BMW 7 Series or even a Bentley Flying Spur. But that's not the point. A Rolls-Royce is a crowning achievement, and driving one shows the world you're the one wearing the crown.

For 2017, Rolls-Royce goes one shade darker with its Black Badge variants. Aimed at "today's generation of young, self-empowered, self-confident rule-breakers," the Ghost Black Badge has more power, sportier driving manners, and darker-hued interior and exterior elements.

In a "discreet and considered update," the Ghost Series II receives freshened exterior styling with redesigned LED headlights and a tapered wake in the hood. Inside, the front seats are redesigned, and further under the skin the Ghost's suspension has been enhanced and the transmission is now aided by satellite technology (seriously!).

For 2013, the Rolls-Royce Ghost gains a few new features, chief among them a new audio amplifier system with "exciter" speakers sewn into the headliner for better sound dispersion. Also new is an automatic trunk opener that is activated by passing one's foot under the rear bumper. The Ghost's interior is upgraded with new natural-grain leathers and cross-banded wood veneers.

"What can be said about the finest motor car in the world? It is everything one would expect. Powerful, beautiful and comfortable. The finish is amazing and the technology outstanding. This is my first Rolls after a long string of Bentleys, but it won't be my last."

"After two years with our Ghost I am still dazzled by it.,,quiet inside like no other car. Easy to drive. Handles wonderfully. Faster than will ever be needed. AND it still has the Rolls-Royce feel brought up to date. My next car will be a Wraith, but I still have way to many miles to put on our Ghost."
