2019 5-Year Cost to Own Awards: Best Minivan

2019 Honda Odyssey

Best Minivan: 2019 Honda Odyssey

As our reigning Minivan Best Buy champion -- and the winning minivan in the KBB Best Resale Value Awards for each of the last two years -- the Honda Odyssey is a well-decorated minivan. With good reason; this Honda is the complete package, as refined as many luxury cars but totally adept at hauling the family around in safe, blissful comfort. And, oh, yeah: In the minivan category of the 2019 KBB 5-Year Cost to Own ratings, the Odyssey can't be topped.

This is how we characterize the 2019 Honda Odyssey in our Expert Review: "When it comes to mixing maximum family friendliness with a pleasant driving experience, it doesn't get any better than the 2019 Honda Odyssey minivan. From its cool (well, cool for a minivan) design and highly functional interior to its impressive list of safety features, the Odyssey has the game figured out."

More praise comes from our Best Buy write-up: "Another Odyssey strong point: The 3.5-liter V6 engine, paired with a slick-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission, is a model of civility. It's well isolated from the cabin, yet it pulls this van up to highway speeds with authority, returning about 20 mpg in mixed daily use. Driving the Odyssey is a smooth overall experience, aided by comfortable seats (at all positions) and accurate steering that has just the right amount of electric assist. Moreover, the ride quality is excellent, thanks to a supple suspension that artfully manages to soak up bumps and potholes without making this 8-seat van feel even the slightest bit wallowy."

Starting at a hair over $31,000, the 2019 Honda Odyssey is more expensive than the Chrysler Pacifica ($28,390), but its stellar quality, reliability and class-winning performance in the our 5-Year Cost to Own ratings save you big in the long run.
