2018 5-Year Cost to Own Awards: Best Minivan

2018 Honda Odyssey

Best Minivan: 2018 Honda Odyssey

Totally redesigned for 2018, the fifth-generation Honda Odyssey is this year's 5-Year Cost to Own champion in the minivan category. It's also the segment's Best Resale Value Award winner, one of our 12 Best Family Cars of 2018, and our Minivan Best Buy of 2018. Suffice it to say, the new Odyssey is one heck of a minivan.

Refined driving manners are just one of its strengths, as highlighted in our first review of the new van: "The 2018 Honda Odyssey is smooth off the line and glides through gears. On city streets and in parking lots it changes direction with the ease and willingness of a smaller vehicle, and stops in the same manner. On the highway it is quiet, comfortable and confidently controlled. It's the best-driving minivan we've ever driven."

In our Best Family Cars writeup we lauded the Odyssey's proven resale value and reliability records: "If there's one thing that remains mostly unchanged on the new Honda Odyssey it's the brand's established reputation for delivering reliability and resale value. If you plan to sell it in a few years, the Odyssey will put more money back in your pocket than most other minivans. If you plan to keep it until your youngest leaves the nest, it's hard to bet against the Odyssey's track record for delivering years of satisfying ownership."

And in our Minivan Best Buy Awards we praised the Honda Sensing suite of driver assist and safety tech: "Adaptive cruise control watches the vehicle ahead and adjusts speed accordingly, while lane keeping assist helps with the constant little corrections required to steer a car straight down the highway. Collision mitigation braking and road departure mitigation are two Honda Sensing features you don't really want to use, but you'll be very glad to have them if you do."

5-Year Cost to Own champ? Yeah, and then some.
