"I am the 2nd owner of this car and have owned it since 2005. I love the look and drive of the cougar but it has needed repairs more often then i would like and the parts/repairs are expensive. I will miss this car but i need something bigger and more reliable. If you can afford to maintain this car then i would recommend it because that is the only complaint i have!"

"I absolutely love my 2001 Cougar and I always get compliments about what a "cool car" I have. I had the fuel pump replaced due to a recall but that wasn't a major problem because I caught the recall before I had car trouble. Just last week I had to replace the plugs and wires, but after 88000 miles and 6 years that's not surprising. Took my trip from Michigan to Louisiana with no problem. Very comfy ride. The body is in great condition and even handled my hitting a deer fairly well for a small sports car. Unfortunately, I'm trading it in for a Mountaineer tomorrow and I'm about to tears. The cougar was my first brand new car. Unfortunately the resale value is not great (even though I think it should be!!)and I cannot afford to keep it and purchase another vehicle. I need the trade in value. If it wasn't for country living and the need to tow snowmobile trailers I would keep this car if I could. I will be taking pictures of it so that I always remember my first new car. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a sleek looking, fun, sports car."

Pros: "fun to drive, good gas milage, V6, great looking"

Cons: "None if properly maintaned"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I would have definately kept this car if the previous owners had taken care of it. After maintaing this car for over one year it gave me little fuses. Even though it was not very well maintaned the most expensive fix i had on this car was changing the brake calipers 500ish dollars and, a new set of tires were about the same. I had only bought the car for $2,400 so i had expected limited reliability. The car is fairly easy to work on aswell. The thing i loved about this car was its handling it has very sharp movements but, has tons of body roll. I wish it was a bit more powerful but since it is FWD it is understandable. Had i bought a car that was better maintaned i would want to keep it. One last thing I did overheat it due to a bad radiator and is still running like a beast so i would say it is very reliable. Great first car for anybody with very small blind spots."
