About McLaren MP4-12C

McLaren cut its teeth on the great racetracks of Europe so, in 2012, when it decided to produce a street-legal car worthy of wearing its name, the whole world knew it was going to be something special. The MP4-12C supercar for 2014 continues to astound its owners and confound long-time greats Ferrari, Bugatti and Lamborghini. The MP4-12C easily ranks among the top ten great exotic cars for 2014, delivering 616 horsepower from its mid-mounted V8 engine for blistering performance both on and off the track. And, British tastes being what they are, McLaren’s MP4-12C is fitted with an elegant interior for two and a price tag befitting its lofty status.

McLaren has halted – perhaps temporarily – production of the 2014 MP4-12C to make room for the 650S. However, if you really want one, odds are the Special Operations team can likely build one for you. Nice, huh?

2013 marks the second year of production for the MP4-12C coupe and the first for the MP4-12C spider (convertible) variant, which has a retractable hard-top roof. It returns with a more powerful engine – now tuned to make 616 horsepower – revisions to its transmission responsiveness, and expanded paint, leather and wheel options.

The McLaren MP4-12C is an all- new car, and the first proper, street-legal McLaren since the fabled, million-dollar-plus F1 of the 1990s (the more recent McLaren SLR was built in conjunction with Mercedes-Benz). The 2012 MP4 uses copious amounts of carbon fiber for its strength and weight-saving properties, and a compact V8 engine that makes almost as much power as the F1’s big V12.

"The McLaren MP4-12C is truly an amazing supercar. You get 99% of what the new McLaren 650 has but at half the price and with less turbo lag than the new 650."

"This is the most complete and refined super car i have ever owned/driven. I currently own a ferrari f430 scuderia, a lamborghini gallardo, a porsche gt2 rs, a noble m600 and this Mclaren, and i must say this is either the best or a close second behind the gt2 rs"
