"We purchased our Rondo in November of 2007 after our old minivan failed us. We didn't want another van, and were looking toward the small SUV class. We have 3 young children ages 3, 6, and 7, and didn't want to cram them into a vehicle, so a third row was a necessity for us.
We drove the RAV4, CR-V, and Ford Escape and felt very cramped. Only the RAV4 offered the 3rd row, but it was tight, and no cargo could be carried. We looked at the outside of the Mazda 5, but sliding doors reminded me too much of a mini van. Our next stop was Kia to look at the Sportage, but the Rondo caught my eye on the showroom.
3rd row, sliding second row seats, normal doors, V6, side curtain airbags, and more. It fit all our criteria. The warenty was also very attractive....10 years!!
We used to run around town in my husband's bigger SUV, but now we find we use the Rondo for most of our trips around town. The gas milage is good at an average over 20mpg (this is our personal calculations), and the V6 is well worth the extra money.
If I had it to do all over again, the only thing I would have changed is I would have gotten the EX model for the Radio and 6 disk changer, but at the time we were watching our wallets."
"I love this vehicle! I had never even heard of a Rondo before I bought one. I was at the dealership trying out the Sportage, but I didn't like the sport-utility suspension, so I tried the less expensive Rondo. Don't like the looks of the car so much, but I love everything else! It's very affordable, gets very good mileage (especially on long freeway trips) and the V6 engine gives it lots of pickup. The seats are very comfortable and the split folding seats are handy. The cargo area with the seats folded down is just long enough for me to sleep back there comfortably on a camping trip or a long road trip. There are lots of little great amenities in this car, too, like the smaller foldup section at the rear end of the car. It's great for putting grocery bags in there so they don't tip over or slide around the car. Then the larger compartment is great for storing stuff you don't use much, but need to have. I would, and have, recommended this vehicle to my friends and family. It's a great car to drive around town, but because of the cargo area, it's also good for trips to Home Depot and longer trips."
"I am very happy with my Rondo. I am not a car person, it has to be a vehicle that is capable of various roles. This automobile definitely is. From comfortable transportation with good visibility to weekend mover, it can do most anything. I have over 18,000 miles on it now and havent had any trouble besides a cracked evap canister at about 6k miles, covered under warranty. More than enough power, tranny seemed a little tight when new, shifting rather harshly but smoothed out over time, no more aggressive downshifts to 1st too early. I feel that rear cargo area courtesy lights and cruise control should have been standard as well as a way to open the rear hatch without having to unlock the drivers door first. Overall very pleased with my third KIA.. Suggestion, lay off a little on performance and work on fuel mileage 25 in the city 30 to 32 highway only.."
"I love this car! We needed something bigger when our second child was born (we had been driving around an itty bitty '05 Rio), but we didn't want to spend a fortune on car payments and gas for an SUV (and neither did I want to be a mini-van mom). After researching Crossovers, I found this one to have the BEST OF ALL WORLDS! It is stylish, comfortable, easy to stear, GREAT on gas, & very spacious! You have the choice of a 7 seater with a tiny trunk, or fold the 3rd row down for a 5 seater with a larger trunk. It is so VERSITILE! Also it is much cheaper than the other crossovers on the market (or SUVs or Mini-vans for that matter), which fits well into a family budget. Did I mention the 10 year, 100,000 mile waranty? Buy this vehicle fast, before Kia catched on to what a value it is and raises the price!"
"I bought my rondo just over a year ago and I absolutely love it. I traded in my 2002 Rio for this vehicle. I went to the dealership looking to purchase a Sportage and I just couldn't swing the payments or the gas mileage. The salesperson showed me this car and I fell in love with it during the test drive.
Only complaint I have it that one of the map light buttons wasn't working (it would turn on but wouldn't stay on) when I bought this and I have yet to have a dealer be able to replace it, despite my efforts. Minor inconvienence, however."
