About Isuzu
Long before talk of bailouts and consolidation, one of General Motors' partners, Isuzu, learned a tough lesson about selling rebadged vehicles. Though once a brand offering distinct models such as the Isuzu Trooper and Isuzu Rodeo, this car company eventually lost its identity and withdrew from the North American market a few years ago. At that time, the lineup consisted of two Chevrolet vehicles that had been mildly tweaked and dressed with Isuzu badges: the Chevrolet Trailblazer-based Isuzu Ascender and the Isuzu i-290 and i-370 trucks, which were slightly altered versions of the Chevrolet Colorado pickup. To their credit, every Isuzu truck and SUV was sold with a seven-year/75,000-mile powertrain warranty, which when first introduced, bettered the coverage offered with Chevy-badged counterparts.
