Pros: "endurance, comfort, price, quality"

Cons: "paint peels and chips too easy"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9

"This has been one of the best cars I have ever owned. The quality of its endurance has surpassed many other cars in its class. The only negative would be the exterior painting seems to wear off a little more than most cars, but that could be because it stays around longer than most. I could not believe how after so many family members and even friends were behind the wheel and used it on so many occasions and the little car just kept on running. I really got my moneys worth."

Pros: "Reliability, gas mileage, cute"

Cons: "cup holders, rear leg room"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"My husband bought his 1999 Civic ex 5 speed coupe in November of 1998 and it's still going strong. It gets awesome gas mileage and is so reliable. We plan on keeping it until it dies as we want our children to learn how to drive a manual transmission on this. My Dodge caravan bit the dust September of 2014 and we've been using this for all 5 of us as we are saving for a Honda Odyssey we would like to purchase around December. Luckily my kids are not that tall as there is not much leg room in the back for adults, but kids are just fine. The only annoying thing is the cup holders suck. So, if you have a tall drink just hold onto it when turning corners. That's the only negative thing I can think of about this car so that should tell you something. The civics made in Japan like ours was will last you forever. Make sure you use a club on your steering wheel as these get stolen quite frequently here in southern California for parts."

Pros: "great price & low maintenance, great mileage"

Cons: "leg room in back seat & difficult to get to get in"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I love it and plan to drive it another 100,000 miles. I love the big trunk and the back seats fold down making it easy to load larger items. It is difficult to get in back seat and not much leg room. For 1 or 2 people it is perfect. Excellent gas mileage. For a small car, I definitely love it."

Pros: "Average gas mileage (33 mph all around)"

Cons: "Requires valves adjusted far too often,"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 6

"I've owned my civic since 2006, so coming up on ten years now. There are two issues I've had with it. 1. The radiator went bad at approx. 95000 miles 2. At about 200 thousand miles, some of the valves burned up and I ended up replacing the engine. part of this was my fault. They require adjustment every 30 thousand miles and I probably did it twice the entire time I owned it. If I had purchased the 2001 civic, both the spark plugs and valves would need adjustment at around 100 thousand miles. Less maintenance. Aside from those details, Its been a decent go to work car. Outside of oil changes its really never needed anything else. It is a bit noisy to ride in past 60 mph. Its no luxury car for sure. One of these days when I grow up I would like to purchase something quieter to drive."
