Ford Transit Connect Passenger

Ford Transit Connect Passenger

About Ford Transit Connect Passenger

Not too big and not too small, the 2016 Ford Transit Connect aims to attract families and businesses seeking an alternative to a bulky, gas-guzzling full-size van. The Transit Connect is available in two versions: the passenger wagon that seats up to seven, or a cargo van ready for commercial duties. Each is available in two lengths. About the size of a midsize sedan, even the longer model is easy to maneuver and fuel-efficient. Larger than a Mazda5 and cargo haulers like the Nissan NV200, the Transit Connect doesn't offer the spaciousness of a full-size van like the Honda Odyssey or its own big brother, the Ford Transit, but for families and businesses seeking a solid in-betweener, the Transit Connect could be their Goldilocks.

Pros: "Great fuel mileage, very dependable, handles well."

Cons: "Needs more comfortable seat"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"Tried one of each of the major manufacturers and settled on this one early in 2014. Have run it hard and it has worked flawlessly. Carry a lot of equipment and run the AC non stop. Never over heated like our nv did and still gets great fuel mileage. Got the 2.5 six speed auto which works really good on heavy loads. Blower is powerful for the AC and heater and no issues with electronics. All in all it's been one of the most dependable work trucks I have owned. Would like a more comfortable seat but that's because I sit in it 10-12 hours a day! Plenty of headroom. Good van."

Pros: "great price to value and options"

Cons: "limited space when all seats are full"

"We have owned 2 Toyota Sienna vans back to back over last 13 years. We enjoyed them but needed a smaller foot print van with seating for 7 to move overseas. We bought an XLT with basically all the upgrades new this summer for under $26k! My Sienna was loaded new in 2006 and it was $42k. Hence a huge price difference, but there are a few trades. Yes, its a smaller van and even loaded it doesn't have all the same "luxury" a loaded Sienna has....but I will admit that nearly every Sienna power seat folding seat and electric sliding door in the van failed beyond repair at the 7 year mark, so I wasn't ready to go thru that again and the Transit being manual was fine with me this time!! We drive it loaded with our five kids and it has fine acceleration and handles like a sedan not a van actually. It is space limited for bags and stuff when all 7 seats are full, but we threw a Yakima box on top for trips and baggage...no problem. Gas economy is good, but you will find yourself at the pump on trips more often because it has a smaller gas tank, not bad MPG. The big back gate door is a bit of effort to close, so you may consider the clam shell rear door version. But the big door is nice unloading in the rain, big canopy effect. The panoramic sunroof is huge and the family loves it. Voice commanded climate system is nice. But Nav system isn't compatible with European ford maps (all fords have this issue). Stateside XM real time WX radar imaging is very cool! It showed us a huge storm front approaching before we got to it and we avoided bad weather in hwy. Lastly, getting into back seat is a bit cumbersome to fold seat each time for little guys, but the full folding flat cargo space with high ceiling is awesome to load stuff into it to haul around!!! Bottom line....for under $30k loaded "un-mini van" that drives like a sedan you cant beat it!"

Best kept secret in Titanium trim

Pros: "Titanium trim- leather, heated seats, NAV"

Cons: "Wish double doors were available on Titanium model"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9

"If you are considering a 3 row vehicle or traditional mini van check out the Transit Titanium model. This is by far the best kept secret on the market. Drives like a car, handles great and smaller than a minivan and larger than a crossover. You will be amazed at what you can haul in this with seats down. Furniture is no issue even a 84" long sofa! Get the Titanium model as dealers are willing to deal because these are not well advertised vehicles by Ford here in US. They are big sellers in Europe and you get to take advantage of the less advertised, less popular in $ saved. Its a great vehicle and you will love it!"
