"timing belt, water pump, brakes, battery, tires, rack & pinion are going to cost 75% of car's present value...$2,000 plus tax for repairs. car has been laying in the garage for six months while we saved the cash to repair. Insurance alone cost 420 for six months of inactivity."

"My mistake was buying this used car. It was one problem after another and of course after the warranty has expired. There should have been a recall on this car. I know two other people that had this car and all of us had to get rid of them. We all had most of the same mechanical and electrical problems. Money invested in repairs would make a nice down payment on another car. This particular model is a lemon!"

Pros: "Reliable, mid 20's for mpg, comfortable!"

Cons: "It has over 100,000 miles on it."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 8

"I ordered this car the first year it was made and have owned it since then. 65% miles on it are highway driving from Montana to Oregon to visit family. I have all the maintenance records, two key fobs and a collection of silver PT Cruiser toys including a Remote Control version. It has leather upholstery, moon roof, roof rack, AM/FM radio, CD player, CASETTE player (standard factory), Premium Sound. I don't have kids or pets so the only wear is on the driver floor mat. The PT Cruiser badge came off the back and I have it so it could be put back if you want. Small dent in the front left fender caused by some jerk but the dent is really small. You might miss it."

Pros: "Great versalite car"

Cons: "defective rims, paint clear coat flaked"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9

"I've had since new in 2001. At first I was skeptical about it being basicly a dodge neon with a different body. The car turned out to be a great car. The rims were not great they leaked air so I changed them. Ride is noisey, Thats about all the trouble I had. Standard oil filter changes. It's still got the original spark plugs, don't miss, chug run's great. Gas milelage never was the best for a small car but decent. The body is heavy and solid, rolled backward in neutral down my driveway across the street and backed into my neighbor's surburban and bashed their front and fender. Over $3,000 in damage and the PT, busted the right side tail light/w little body damage. Solid body. Hauled bags cement, 2x4x8 lumber by removing back and passenger seats. What can I say it's a tough, versalite, reliable car."
