About Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Crew Cab

The 2016 Chevrolet Silverado looks like a brand-new truck, two years after it actually was redesigned. The new grille, headlights, hood and taillights break away from the handsome-but-bland styling of the past couple of years and give the new Silverado the double-take good looks it has needed. But there's more under the skin in the form of an 8-speed automatic transmission, now available with the 5.3-liter V8 engine for the first time. Apple's excellent new CarPlay iPhone integration is now available as well, along with a host of smaller refinements. Put it together, and the Silverado sharpens its edge against hot competitors like the Ram 1500, Toyota Tundra and of course its biggest cross-town rival, the Ford F-150.

Preferring to deploy its "Two-Mode" hybrid technology in large, heavy vehicles first to optimize per-vehicle fuel savings, GM rolled it out last year in Chevy Tahoe, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade full-size SUVs and adds Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups for 2009. This technology doesn't come cheap, but it makes these easily the market's most fuel-efficient full-sizers.

"I bought a 2016 $42000 silverado regular cab LT 4WD Pick up and was very disappointed. The truck has a constant vibration that the service department said that could do nothing about? The fit and finish is very poor. I sold the truck back at a $5500 loss I hated it that bad."

Pros: "Towing, fuel economy, low interior sound level."

Cons: "Take-off from stop is odd, Apple/Android interface"

"2016 5.3 LT 4x4 Extended Cab 6 1/2' bed Got a great deal so bought new cheaper than used. I'll start with the "bad" and this is really nit-picking. When taking off from a stop, it feels like it is in too high of a gear and I need to give it more pedal than I would expect. It's really not a problem and now that I've had it a while I'm used to it. The good - It is ridiculously quiet inside. It's more quiet than my wife's Audi! It tows like a boss. I tow an ~ 6000 lb enclosed trailer over mountains without issue. Non-towing fuel economy is very good. I average ~ 21mpg @80 mph. I have 13,000 miles on it and zero troubles so far. It has Apple Car Play and Android Auto but I don't really care for them that much. Their development is not ready for prime time in my opinion. You have to connect with the USB cable and you can only use a few apps. For navigation, you're limited to Google Maps which is OK but the routing isn't as good as Waze. Suspension and ride is pretty good - it's comfortable to spend long distances in but you won't mistake it for a sports car - but hey, this is a truck. Overall the truck has exceeded my expectations and I'm very happy with my purchase. I would buy it again."

"Being a past purchaser of a few new Chevrolet pick ups, it's what I expected and then some. Smooth ride that you are accustomed to but with a lot more goodies. My only gripe that turned into a good thing is/was the ride height. But soon after my not so tall wife tried to get in, I got approval for a lowering kit that I had not bothered to mention yet. So for myself, all is well."
