2010 Lincoln MKT: Three Rows of Luxury

By Editors on January 12, 2009 4:32 AM
So, you thought the Ford Flex was wrapped in polarizing sheetmetal? Essentially a luxed-up version of Ford's well-reviewed three-row crossover, the Lincoln MKT comes out of the gates with one of the most distinctive shapes on the road, bookended by a big, bold, Lincoln-heritage split-waterfall grille and a distinctive bustle-back rear end. The MKT's engine lineup will comprise a 268-horsepower 3.7-liter V6 and an efficient new 355-horsepower twin-supercharged, direct-injected EcoBoost 3.5-liter V6. Moving inside, Ford Executive Director of Design for The Americas Peter Horbury likens its opulent cabin to that of a luxury jet. "The executive jet is an icon for luxury," he says, "and this car in some cases can substitute for that. It's a long-distance tourer, fully equipped for video conferencing on the move or families going to the beach." We're looking forward to spending quality time behind the wheel -- or lounging in back.
