It’s the twin-turbo V6-powered version of Ford’s midsize sedan, with blacked-out wheels and sporty looks, and makes some decent power. It comes with some nice driver-assist and tech features standard, and has some good driving dynamics, more European feeling than the typical American sedan. It’s a bit tight in the rear for three, although the trunk holds a fair amount of cargo.

Yes, its standard turbocharged 4-cylinder is down significantly on power to the 2019 Fusion Sport, but it’s still great fun to drive. It also starts about $7K cheaper than the Fusion. If you upgrade to the V6 Stinger, the prices—and hp/torque—match up more (and in fact, its price can top $50K fully loaded), yet the case is still strong. Plus, it comes with Kia’s class-leading powertrain warranty.

Unless you have an allegiance to the Blue Oval, the choice is clear if you’re looking for a sporty 5-passenger car.
