Elegantly Styled, Feature-Filled and Comfortable

The Optima’s key draw is its appealing mix of style, features and price. In addition to two 4-cylinder engine options, one of them turbocharged, the Kia Optima lineup includes two hybrid models: the Optima hybrid, which received a new powertrain last year, and a plug-in hybrid model that boasts about 29 miles of all-electic range on a full charge and 600 miles of total driving range. Kia can't offer the same decades-deep reputation for reliability that distinguishes some of its key competitors, but it can offer one of the best warranties in the segment: 5-year/60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper coverage and a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty.

From Behind the Wheel

From our 2018 Kia Optima full review: "Kia’s 2018 Optima isn't billed as a sports sedan, but the SX model with the turbo engine doesn't seem to have gotten the memo. The 245-horsepower turbocharged engine, quick-shifting 6-speed automatic, and responsive steering all make the Optima SX turbo feel more agile and fun than many of its competitors. The SX gets singled out here thanks to its better power-steering setup and firmer suspension and 18-inch wheel-and-tire package."

A Luxury-Like Option

Most midsize sedans top out in the low- to mid-$30,000 range, but the 2018 Kia Optima is offered in a top-of-the-line model that nears $37,000 thanks to exclusive features like an addictively soft quilted Nappa leather interior.

Going High-Tech

The Optima is available with Kia's excellent UVO infotainment system. It includes parent-helping features like speed alert, curfew alert, geo-fencing and driving score (a monthly report on how the car is driven). There are other cool features like a surround-view camera, lane departure warning and autonomous emergency braking, plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Build and Price

The 2018 Kia Optima LX starts just over $23,000, while a fully loaded top-tier Optima Limited will run near $37,000. Build and price your own 2018 Kia Optima and we'll help you make sure you pay the right price.

Consumer Opinions

Owner Retired teacher has this to say about the Optima: "When I take passengers in my car, they always comment on how beautiful the interior is and what a nice car I have. Also have had zero problems with the car. Have taken it on several road trips--very comfy. One thing I wish--I wish the seats could be brought up higher to make getting out easier."
