2019 Nissan Rogue Sport

Starting Price: $23,285 | Price Yours

Above Average: Comes with advanced features and it’s good looking.

Below Average: It lacks in off-road ability and is a bit underpowered.

Consensus: The 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport puts the styling of features from the larger Rogue into a smaller package. It has good interior space compared to the segment and it’s easy to maneuver and park in crowded urban settings.

The 2019 Jeep Renegade is a standout in the crowded subcompact SUV market. With two engine choices and advanced 4-wheel-drive (4WD), it's an excellent pick for someone who wants a comfortable crossover with the ability to actually do some real off-roading. It's got rugged good looks on the outside and inside you can fit four full-size adults comfortably (not really five). If you're looking for something that will be adequate at commuting, the Jeep Renegade ticks that box, though the engine is a bit sluggish. Competitors like the Mazda CX-3 offer more athletic performance. Step up to the Latitude trim to get  Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. With the rear seats up you get 18.5 cubic feet of storage. That balloons to 50 cubic feet of space with the seats down. In everything except the base model, the front seat folds to make space for longer cargo items. The Renegade comes standard with a 1.3-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that makes 177 horsepower and 200 lb-ft of torque. Step up to the 2.4-liter inline-4 for 180 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque.

The Nissan Rogue Sport sits below the larger Nissan Rogue in the lineup, and while it's not an ideal off-roader like the Jeep is, it does offer ample cargo space for a weekend getaway. For 2019 the Nissan Rogue Sport gets Nissan's ProPilot Assist and Safety Shield 360. ProPilot Assist is one of our favorite optional features on the Rogue Sport. It also comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard on the base trim. The Nissan Rogue Sport comes with 2.0-liter inline-4 that makes 141 horsepower and 147 lb-ft of torque. That’s less than the Jeep Renegade, but on the road, the Rogue Sport feels a bit more comfortable under acceleration for short merges. It also benefits from its bigger Rogue brother in that it feels more substantial. Noise levels in the Rogue Sport are relatively low at highway speeds and allows for comfortable conversation. It boasts 22 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and with seats down cargo space increases to more than 60 cubic feet.

Off-road capable and really fun, iconic styling.

2019 Nissan Rogue Sport Advantages

Nissan’s ProPilot Assist system is the precursor to autonomous driving, and it's very good in the Nissan Rogue Sport. The Rogue Sport also comes at its base level with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Final Recommendation

The 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport wins out in this comparison for its advanced safety and driving features and its comfort on the road. While the Jeep Renegade would still be our choice for off-roading, the Rogue Sport is better for daily driving.
