2011 Honda Accord gets best score yet in new NHTSA crash testing

Results of the latest round of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) revised vehicle crash test regimen saw the 2011 Honda Accord roll off with the highest rakings recorded to date. Thus far NHTSA has subjected 40 vehicles to its new and more stringent New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) evaluation disciplines. While the BMW 5 Series and Hyundai Sonata sedans as well as GM's mid-size Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia SUVs have now received five-star overall crash ratings, only the 2011 Honda Accord earned five-star marks in each of three individual categories that NHTSA uses to assess passenger safety and survivability in the case of front, side and rollover impacts.
