Volvo Offers Buyers An Extended Security Blanket

Seeking to boost its sales while giving buyers a healthy dose of high-value stress reduction, Volvo has announced a slick new incentive package called the Safe + Sound Coverage Plan. As part of the program, all new 2009 Volvo vehicles purchased from now until the end of June will have their basic warranty coverage significantly extended and see them further enhanced by a new supplemental wear-and-tear provision. On its most basic level, the Safe + Sound upgrade adds one year and/or 10,000 miles to the existing bumper-to-bumper New Car coverage, taking it to 5 years/60,000 miles. The Complementary Factory Scheduled Maintenance steps up even more impressively; from 3/36 to the same 5/60 interval while, Volvo's On Call Roadside Assistance is extended from four to five years, still with unlimited mileage. As a final touch, Safe + Sound also adds a new Wear and Tear Coverage that encompasses the replacement of brake pads and rotors plus windshield wiper inserts for the first 12 months/12,000 miles. Developed in concert with its dealers, the Safe + Sound Coverage Plan provides a comprehensive set of benefits that are unmatched by any other luxury maker. Although currently a short-term program, Volvo admits that if it does have a significant impact on sales numbers, the Safe + Sound Coverage Plan could end up becoming the automaker's standard warranty here in the U.S.
