Aiming to raise its international profile, one of South Korea's lesser-known automakers has announced a new compact crossover design exercise for Frankfurt. Envisioned as a high-tech, high-styled mobile communications space, the Ssangyong Concept XUV 1 offers an innovative cabin configuration that will accommodate either 1+3 or 1+1+2 seating layouts. Wrapped in appropriately high-profile bodywork, its exterior is highlighted by coach-style rear side doors and a mega-dose of wraparound glass that also includes a full-length panorama roof. Deriving its name from its purpose, Ssangyong claims the Concept XUV 1 nomenclature stands for Excellent User Interface 1. To stay in proper character, all of the XUV 1's key cabin functions are controllable by either a smartphone or some other type of personal electronic device.
