Smart autonomous EV Concept previewed for Frankfurt
Daimler-Benz is putting the finishing touches on a new Smart concept vehicle that will debut next month at the Frankfurt Auto Show. According to a Daimler spokesperson, this yet-unnamed one-off is the first to be designed using its new CASE (Connected, Autonomous, Shared, Electric) development strategy.
While the automaker released no technical details about this new Smart, the car clearly appears to be geared towards excelling in urban ride-sharing duties. The illuminated LED display in the front grille area reprises similar outward-facing communication technology first seen in another Mercedes-Benz Concept, the F 015 Luxury in Motion that appeared at the 2015 CES show. We’ll know more about this ambitious Smart exercise soon.
