If you've got a Mini and a desire to see the U.S. up close and personal, the Mini Takes the States 2014 event is a great way to spend up to two weeks on a coast-to-coast odyssey accompanied by literally thousands of kindred spirits. Held every two years, this fifth iteration MTTS caravan is set to depart from San Francisco on July 26th and end up in Boston on August 10. As in the past, participants will be able to drive along in any or all of the 14 stages that will pass through 18 states and enjoy a variety of "genuine, once-in-a-lifetime motoring experiences including daily activities" as they rack up some genuinely memorable miles.  Based on our personal KBB.com experiences in the MTTS 2012 road rally, we fully expect this year's model will prove to be an equally excellent adventure.

While pets are welcome to take part in MTTS 2014 for free, it will cost each human participant a modest $45 to sign up for the event. However, Mini notes that a portion of that fee will go directly to this year's charity partner, the Best Friends Animal Society. For more information and/or to register, go here
