Recent Drives: Equinox and Taurus Much Improved

At some point during our concurrent weeks with the 2008 Chevy Equinox Sport and 2008 Ford Taurus we were struck by how much both of these first-generation vehicles have been improved in their short lifetimes. The Equinox received several upgrades for 2007 and is practically transformed by the 3.6-liter V6, six-speed automatic transmission, hydraulic (not electric) power steering and suspension tweaks that distinguish the new-for-2008 Equinox Sport. The Ford Taurus, which began life as the Ford Five Hundred, has been similarly reborn by Ford's latest six-and-six powertrain.
