Recent Drive: 2008 Chevy Equinox Sport

We recently tapped the newest member in the Equinox lineup for a 600-mile road trip and were impressed by how agreeable the big little SUV proved on such a haul. GM's 264-horsepower, 3.6-liter V6 engine and six-speed automatic transmission combo provided ample passing power in the Equinox Sport, albeit at a higher volume than in newer GM models. We also appreciated the Equinox Sport's responsive suspension setup, which demanded little sacrifice in ride comfort. With leather seating, a Pioneer sound system and generous passenger and cargo room, the only things to grumble about were bouts of traffic and the price of gas.
