Recent Drive: 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt SS

In light of our revealing experience in the impressive new Chevy HHR SS, we approached the driver's door of the even newer 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt SS with cautious optimism. It wasn't long before that caution had floated away with the wind, along with all the tire smoke resulting from multiple "evaluations" of the entertaining launch control system. The 2XX-horsepower turbocharged engine is as good in the super Cobalt as it is in the super HHR, but the bigger story is the impeccably tuned suspension. The engineers at GM's performance division have stepped up their tuning game in a major way.
