Porsche announced that a sport wagon variant of the Panamera Sedan being readied for Europe also will be sold here in the U.S. Speaking with Automotive News, Porsche North America’s President and CEO Klaus Zellmer said the stylish spinoff will be based on upcoming Panamera Sedan which is set to go on sale here early next year. However, while the new Panamera Shooting Brake arrives in European showrooms in 2017, we won’t see it here until at least 2018, and perhaps with a different name.

This more versatile version of the automaker’s grand touring 4-door was first hinted at back in 2012 when the Panamera Sport Turismo Concept  debuted at the Paris Auto Show fitted with the same gas/electric powertrain used in the Panamera S Hybrid. History is set to repeat itself this September when the new Panamera Shooting Brake will be unveiled in that same venue. We’ll have more details on that vehicle and a better idea of when we might see it in America then. Right now, the 2018-2019 window appears to be the most likely arrival time.
