Polestar 1 Pre-orders Open
Pre-orders for the Polestar 1 sport coupe have been opened in 18 countries including the United States. Deposits of $2,500 will be taken for the high-performance car that’s expected to cost around $155,000 when deliveries begin in mid-2019. Polestar is the electric and performance car division of Volvo.
Buyers looking to put a deposit down will be able to use a new car configuration tool allowing them to see what their car would look like. The Polestar 1, which made its first auto show debut at the Geneva Motor Show, is a plug-in hybrid that makes 600 horsepower and has a pure electric driving range of nearly 100 miles. The first of a series of cars to come from the division, Polestar 1 will be joined by Polestar 2 and 3, which will be full battery-electric vehicles. Polestar also produces the 367-horsepower S60 and V60 performance cars for Volvo.
“With over 7,000 people interested in owning a Polestar 1 since its reveal, we are extremely encouraged by the passion shown for our product,” said Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar. “We will now take the next steps toward delivering this beautiful car to our first customers.”
