There are theme parks and there are theme parks. And then there's Ferrari World Abu Dhabi. Factory blessed and built on Yas Island adjacent to the Formula One race facility, it will boast at least two of the coolest "rides" in existence when it opens later this year. The GT Roller Coaster will see pairs of four-place F430 Spider-like cars go wheel to wheel on twisting parallel tracks at speeds of nearly 70 mph. For those desiring even more of a thrill, the Formula One Roller Coaster will reportedly blast replica Ferrari F1 cars out of an air-conditioned launch station at triple-digit velocities in an attempt to recreate the acceleration sensations that a driver experiences --and use a track configuration designed to simulate the kind of "g" forces encountered behind the wheel of a modern Grand Prix race car.

Set on over 135 acres and with 861,000 square-feet of it in a climate-controlled environment, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi will offer 18 other rides of lesser intensity designed to share and highlight various aspects of the Italian cultural and geographic experience. Also in the plan are half a dozen restaurants and numerous shops that will showcase various high-end Italian luxury goods.
