Our 10 Most Awarded Brands of 2017
Some automotive brands receive awards not just for one model, but for several cars, trucks and SUVs throughout the lineup. In many cases, the winning combination includes reliability, resale value, innovation, comfort, capability and fun. Here are the 10 brands that received the most awards and accolades from Kelley Blue Book for 2017.
Honda’s extensive portfolio of cars and SUVs, as well as its truck and minivan, top decades of reliability and strong resale value with fun-to-drive appeal and thoughtful touches. The Accord, Civic, CR-V, HR-V, Fit, Odyssey, Pilot and Ridgeline all won awards this year -- including four Best Buy Awards -- for a jaw-dropping 28 accolades.
The runner-up slot goes to Chevrolet, which earned recognition for its barrier-breaking electric car, full-size and midsize trucks with excellent resale value and impressive 5-Year Cost to Own numbers, SUVs that mix versatility and value, and comfortable sedans that are excellent choices for families.
Toyota has been building family favorites for decades, combining legendary reliability, comfortable interiors and world-class value. With strong 5-Year Cost to Own data, some of the most efficient hybrids on the market, and tough trucks with enviable resale values, it’s no wonder Toyota received 24 titles this year.
Subaru cars and SUVs deliver the four-season confidence that comes with all-wheel drive, plus the comfortable cabins and impressive 5-Year Cost to Own data that makes families happy. Highly regarded for its commitment to safety and practicality, Subaru also appeals to enthusiasts with fun favorites like the WRX.
From mainstream models like the Sportage, Sedona and Optima to the genre-bending Soul and Niro, Kia produces practical and capable vehicles that also have their own unique spins. Protected by one of the best warranties in the business and jam-packed with value, Kias are smart buys for households of all sizes.
With two different AMG-tuned models selected among the 10 Most Fun SUVs, two more sport/utilities that are among the 10 Best Luxury SUVs, and a Best Buy winner for the Luxury SUV category, Mercedes-Benz SUVs, as well as their tech-savvy cars, continue to earn praise.
Hyundai's Sonata midsize sedan, Tucson compact SUV, 3-door Veloster and its hybrids -- including two versions of the all-new Ioniq -- all received accolades this year thanks in large part to the value proposition on which the brand was built.
Jeep originally started as one iconic model -- which became the modern-day Wrangler -- but there are now several Jeeps to choose from. The Grand Cherokee SRT is loads of fun on the street and at the track and the Renegade is a cool smaller SUV that offers value-priced off-roading fun. The Wrangler won its own share of awards, thanks to strong resale value and low 5-Year Cost to Own numbers.
Another iconic brand, Porsche has racked up awards for its Macan and Cayenne SUVs, Panamera executive car and Cayman and Boxster sports cars. Not only are Porsches a thrill to drive, but they excel when it comes to practical matters like resale value.
Names like Mustang and F-Series have been around for decades, but Ford has embraced forward-thinking technology to keep both of them relevant and popular. The F-150 has now been the best-selling vehicle in the USA for more than 35 years and is a three-time Best Buy Award winner, while the Mustang is one of our 10 Coolest Cars Under $25,000. The Fiesta, Fusion, Escape and Baja-bred Raptor also earned official Kelley Blue Book recognition this year.
