Mopar '10 Challenger leads the charge of a revitalized Dodge Brigade
Intent on fully exploiting its carefully nurtured bad-boy persona, Dodge followed up on its recent introduction of a race-spec Challenger in NASCAR's Nationwide Series with this stunning Mopar '10 Challenger, a Hemi-powered limited edition street-legal counterpart that will roll into Dodge dealers next month. The first-ever vehicle offered by Chrysler Corporation in concert with its Mopar performance division, production of this high-profile coupe will be limited to 500 units. Sticker price has been set at $38,000 when equipped with automatic transmission and $39,000 for one with manual.
"Our Mopar '10 Challenger is a collaboration of two iconic brands with tremendous heritage," said Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO of Mopar, Chrysler Group LLC. "Dodge put the heart into this Challenger and Mopar added the soul." So what constitutes the Mopar '10 Challenger's magic? Visually, this special edition will set off its Brilliant Black paint with a choice of Mopar Blue, Red or Silver accent stripes, trims that will also be seen in the contrast stitching on its the steering wheel and seats. Other exterior touches include 20-inch forged heritage gloss-black wheels, a black-chromed grille surround, a vented Trans-Am-style hood with vintage hood pins, a chrome fuel door plus a bounty of Mopar logos and graphics.
Functionally, the Mopar '10 Challenger complements its 5.7-liter Hemi V8 with a cold-air intake that adds approximately 15 horsepower to the baseline 372-376 pony count plus chassis-stiffening front and rear strut-tower braces that enhance the car's handling and agility. Inside, this Dodge from the dark side gets Katzkin leather seat coverings, a custom leather-wrapped steering wheel with baseball-style stitching, Mopar shift handles (T-handle for automatics, Pistol Grip for manuals) and a numbered dash plaque plus a host of Mopar '10/Mopar indicia scattered throughout the cabin.
Beyond the vehicle itself, the Mopar '10 Challenger's price of entry nets a number of nifty extras including a dedicated car cover, a special owner kit with a certificate showing the vehicle identification number (VIN), date of completion, build number and a book highlighting the build, along with a limited-edition sketch of the car signed by Chrysler Group design chief Mark Trostle.
