Mitsubishi Small Global Concept - Geneva Auto Show

Offering a first look at the vehicle it plans to start producing in March 2012, the Mitsubishi Global Small Concept made its first public appearance in Geneva. To be sourced from a new plant in Thailand and likely to turn up in the U.S. sometime in 2013, this new Mitsu will be wrapped in aerodynamic bodywork and "comfortably seat five adults" while achieving top-of-class fuel efficiency and extremely low CO2 emissions.

Although features and specs in the accompanying release were understandably limited, Mitsubishi did provide some insight into the car's mileage-maxing technologies. In addition to its wind-cheating capabilities, the engineering team took great pains to trim all unnecessary mass from the basic design of this new package. Power will come from a highly-efficient 1.0-1.2-liter engine that will be fitted with a Start/Stop system and be backed by a new generation of continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). An advanced regenerative braking system and special low-rolling-resistance tires will round out the mix. More details at the Geneva reveal.
