The 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is a small SUV that you won’t see coming and going everywhere. Mitsubishi has a small dealer network and there aren’t a ton of their vehicles on the road. The 2019 Mitsubishi Sport is a carryover from 2018 and upper trims offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Mitsubishi also offers a pretty good optional AWD system on its higher trims. Where the Outlander Sport falls down however, is in the driver assistance department. At the base level, Mitsubishi doesn’t offer things like lane-departure warning, collision mitigation, and high-beam assist as standard and in fact, only offers them at all on the highest trim. The Outlander Sport also struggles because the platform it is built on is relatively old, having not been updated since 2011. If you do spring for the 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, step up to the 2.4-liter engine offered on the SE and SEL trims. The 2019 Mazda CX-3 offers a good combination of styling and function for the right price. While it’s cramped in the second row, it offers great handling and luxury touches inside. For 2019, the CX-3 gets a new electronic parking brake that frees up more space, the front seats have been redone to make them more comfortable, and it gets a slight engine tweak for efficiency and to make it a bit quieter. On the road the CX-3 is engaging and fun to drive. You can opt for all-wheel drive at the higher trim and the interior at any level feels surprisingly upscale. Things like pushbutton start and available leather seating make it feel like a more luxurious SUV than some of its competitors.

Final Recommendation

The 2019 Mazda CX-3 beats out the 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport in this head-to-head comparison because of its handling, resale, and stylish good looks. While the Outlander Sport is a good bet because of its tremendous warranty, it does suffer from a not-so-good resale value and doesn’t have fuel economy as good as the Mazda.
