Mini history on stage at the BMW Museum
Helping celebrate 55 years of the marque's iconic history, "The Mini Story" exhibit opened this past weekend at the BMW Museum in Munich where it will continue until January 2016. "A Mini has an inspiring, engaging way about it," said Peter Schwarzenbauer, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG at the gala kickoff ceremony. It's a sentiment with which we fully concur.
Featuring over 30 original production models and rare licensed variants as well as concept vehicles, race/rally specials and other unique one-offs, The Mini Story is divided into 20 themed areas that showcase various aspects of the car's rich heritage, from Sir Alec Issigonis' design sketches and photos of the original 1959 Mini to rare accessory items and classic advertising. As might be expected, it's all set in an interactive environment that should surprise and delight Mini fans of every age and stripe. To whet your appetite, we've assembled a gallery of some of the more distinctive, historic and just-plain-whimsical Minis on display. For more information on The Mini Story, click here.
