Ready to launch this fall in Europe and arrive here next year, the Mercedes-AMG GT is the second sports car developed by M-B's in-house performance division. At the moment, the automaker has released only these two interior images of its nascent supercar, but according to Tobias Moers, CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, this follow-up model to the Mercedes SLS AMG will position AMG as "a dynamic sports car brand even more strongly and aggressively than before." Moers also notes the Mercedes-AMG GT will feature a level of technology that underscores the high aspirations this competition-inspired exercise has with regard to vehicle dynamics, agility and sportiness.
While mechanical facts about this new addition to the M-B lineup are limited to it being powered by an AMG V8, it's obvious the cabin reflects an evolution of the "aviation design" theme found in other current Mercedes-Benz sports cars starting with a low, wing-like dash set off with circular air vents. Moers likens the shape of its prominent center stack to that of a racing-style NACA scoop and points out that the control configuration of the AMG Drive Unit is similar to the arrangement of cylinders on a V8 engine. Mercedes says these touches give the passenger cabin of this high-intensity two-seater a stylish character that defines modern luxury.
