The Lexus of Small Luxury Sport Sedans
Fresh off a total redesign for 2014, the Lexus IS sport sedan is sportier than ever. But beneath the taut sheetmetal and more athletic suspension, the IS remains arguably the smartest choice among all small luxury sport sedans thanks to excellent resale value, a strong reputation for reliability and a dealership experience that many owners find as satisfying as the cars themselves.
The IS 250 features a 204-horsepower V6, while the faster and pricier IS 350 features a larger, 306-horsepower V6. Each is available in rear- or all-wheel drive, and with an F-Sport upgrade that brings sportier looks and handling, but no more power. A rear-drive IS 250 is the most popular version, and plenty of car for most.
"The 2015 Lexus IS 250 and IS 350 are about as quick as their competition in a straight line, and when the road bends, the suspension is ready for action. This is a genuinely fun car to drive, one that's the equal of the sporty Cadillac ATS and BMW 3 Series. However, the suspension remains supple over bumps, and the superb front seats and quiet interior remind you that you're driving a Lexus." Get more driving insight in our 2015 Lexus IS full review.
Build and Price
The 2015 Lexus IS starts at just over $37,000 (with destination charges) and reaches up around $50,000 when fully loaded. But those are sticker prices, and you should expect to pay a little less. New to the Lexus showroom for 2015 is the Lexus RC coupe, a two-door, more boldly styled sibling to the IS. The Lexus RC lineup is comprised of the RC 350 and the high-performance, 467-horsepower RC F. The Lexus IS is also availble in convertible form, although it's a carryover model based on the previous-generation IS.
KBB.com reader and Lexus IS owner CJEK1976 from Louisiana rated the IS a 9 out of 10 and had this to say: "The Nuluxe interior feels much more like leather than the MB-Tex in my Mercedes. The car is smooth, the engine is super quiet and everything is placed out perfectly. The 2.5 is adequate and the design has garnered a bunch of attention and most has been very positive. I switched to Lexus so that I could keep a car past warranty." Read more Lexus IS consumer reviews.
