2018 Kia Sportage
Starting Price: $24,590 | Price Yours
Above Average: Style, excellent warranty, more high-tech safety equipment than previous years, climate controlled seats and optional turbocharged engine makes the affordable 2018 Kia Sportage feel premium.
Below Average: Offers less room than the Honda CR-V and lags a bit in fuel efficiency.
Consensus: The 2018 Kia Sportage has added tech at the entry level, a great warranty and stylish good looks. It also offers AWD and FWD.
The 2018 Kia Niro offers a ton of styling, ample space for backseat passengers, and a really solid fuel economy in its segment. It comes with a variety of engines including a hybrid and plug-in hybrid and it gets a combined city/highway fuel-economy rating of 50 mpg. The plug-in hybrid engine is new for 2018 and Kia has replaced the Lane Departure Warning system with a Lane Keep Assist system. There are a number of trim levels, all of which include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a rearview camera, and a 7-inch touch screen as standard. At the top end the Touring trim gets an Advanced Tech Package and EX models get an electronic review mirror to help reduce glare at night. The 2018 Kia Niro feels nimble and light behind the wheel and offers a ton of acceleration, particularly in Sport Mode where the throttle gets sharper the gear ratios change to make the 6-speed transmission feel peppy. Unlike other hybrids, the Kia offers individual styling that makes it stand out in a crowd and it doesn’t feel like a gussied up golf cart. The 2018 Kia Sportage is a gasoline powered SUV that comes with a wealth of standard equipment at it’s entry point. You can get blind spot and rear-traffic alert, lane departure warnings and autonomous emergency braking on the 2018 Kia Sportage. The Sportage comes in two engine variants, a standard 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder that puts out 181 horsepower or a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder, turbocharged engine that puts out 240 horsepower. The 2018 Kia Sportage also comes with available all-wheel drive or standard as front-wheel drive. We recommend stepping up to the EX trim to get more features at a reasonable price of just over $27,000. The Kia Sportage is more of an SUV than the hatch-like Kia Niro and has a slightly higher ride height.
Best in industry warranties, enjoyable driving dynamics and technology packed vehicles that offer styling and value.

Kia Sportage Advantages

It’s a solid draw between the 2018 Kia Niro and the 2018 Kia Sportage. If you need more space and AWD then the Kia Sportage is for you. If you are looking to save on fuel and want a slightly smaller vehicle that still hauls 5 people, go for the Kia Niro.
