Kia KV7 concept coming to Detroit on gull wings

With a single picture and a two-sentence statement, Kia has given us a first look at the KV7 concept vehicle it will introduce at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show in January.

The KV7 instantly evokes the Ford Flex - one of our favorite family cars - while the gull-wing doors, minimalist seats and tidy cabin floor are obvious cues of a concept car.

Kia points out in its release that the current Soul, Forte Koup and Sportage production vehicles closely resemble the concept cars that preceded them, which we're taking as a strong hint that the KV7 will not only spawn a production car, but that it will be recognizable as a successor to this concept.

We like the Flex and we like what Kia's been doing, so we're looking forward to it.
