Jaguar XE SV Project 8 Previewed
Jaguar released preview images of a hot limited-run XE that will be produced by its Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations starting sometime in 2018. Seen here clad in custom SVO-logo wrap while undergoing testing at the Nürburgring, the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 follows the successful Jaguar F-Type Project 7 that bowed in 2014. This second SVO Collector’s Edition will be “the most powerful road legal Jaguar in history” thanks to a bespoke version of the company’s 5.0-liter Supercharged V8 tuned to make 592 horsepower. Jaguar had little else to say about other mechanical details. However, previous statements made by John Edwards, Managing Director of JLR Special Operations point to Jaguar’s new super sedan also packing all-wheel drive.
Worldwide production of this exclusive Jag will be limited to no more than 300 units. All will be hand-built at SVO’s Technical Center in Coventry, England. More information on the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 will be released late next month just ahead of its first dynamic reveal at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
“The time is right for SVO to produce the most extreme performance road car in the history of Jaguar. The SVO team is possessed by the spirit of performance and committed to creating the most thrilling driving experience imaginable,” said Edwards. “Our clients worldwide were thrilled by the F-Type Project 7. The new XE SV Project 8 takes aerodynamics and performance engineering to another level–it is conceived for enthusiasts and the most discerning collectors.” While not choosing to elaborate at this time, Edwards also admitted: “The price for such an extreme performance sports car available in strictly limited numbers will reflect that.”
