2019 Toyota Sienna

Starting Price: $32,210 | Price yours

Above Average: Easy to drive, tight turning radius, available all-wheel drive, standard collision avoidance system

Below Average: Aging design, can’t accommodate Android Auto phones

Consensus: Another excellent choice in family transport, with loads of standard safety equipment, excellent resale values and the option of all-wheel drive.

Both the Odyssey and Sienna make excellent choices. In the areas of comfort, driving ease, reliability, value and safety, there’s almost no daylight between the two. It really just comes down to some minor differences. The 2019 Sienna doesn’t offer Android Auto, but the Toyota Safety Sense suite of driver assists comes standard on every trim. You have to move up to the Odyssey EX before Honda Sensing comes onboard. The Sienna offers the option of all-wheel drive and has a tighter turning circle, while the Odyssey offers more middle and rear seat legroom and an available built-in vacuum cleaner. The Sienna has a bit more horsepower, but the Odyssey gets slightly better highway fuel economy. Both minivans have frequently made our top 10 Best Family Cars list, while the Odyssey is named our Minivan Best Buy for the second year in a row.

Honda Odyssey Advantages

Larger cabin, available 10-speed automatic, built-in vacuum option, infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, clever adjustable second row Magic Slide seats, cargo volume

Toyota Sienna Advantages

Standard collision avoidance system, available all-wheel drive, tight turning radius, more front seat headroom

Similarities

Excellent safety, reliability and resale values, strong V6 engine, good driving characteristics, versatile interior

Final Recommendation

You can’t go wrong with either. Those looking for the latest in connectivity and infotainment will be happier with the newly redesigned Odyssey, while those looking for the added traction of all-wheel drive will want the Sienna.
